We invite you to a one-day tour of the countryside – Petrykivka and Halushkivka. You will visit the Folk Art Center, learn about the object of the cultural heritage of Ukraine – Petrykiv painting, and take part in a master class. Then, we will go to the ethno-complex “Cossack Farm”, where you will see real Ukrainian houses of the 19th century. In addition, you can order a program, that includes an excursion to the Ethnographic Museum and the Cross Museums, lunch in the shynok (tavern), horseback riding, crossbow and bow shooting. Additionally, we recommend visiting a private stud farm with rare breeds of horses, as well as a theatrical wedding performance at the Ukrainian Wedding Museum.
Entertainment includes archery, club throwing, horseback riding, master classes, excursions for children and adults. Also, on the territory of the Cossack farm, theatrical performances are held. There you will see an equestrian theater, display of elements of a combat “hopak” and possession of Cossack sabers, knives throwing and Cossack games.
“Shynok” is a Cossack tavern where they serve kulish, dumplings and other Ukrainian homemade cuisine. The food here is prepared exclusively from organic products.
The artist’s “hut” is a guest house with an interior from the beginning of the 20th century. Inside you will see towels, icons, paintings by a local artist, as well as a real clay oven. Those who wish can stay here overnight. In the yard there is a cozy gazebo with a reed roof.
The yard of masters features workshops where master classes in pottery, Petrykivskyi painting, as well as knitting the “motanka” dolls are held.
The Cross Museum is one of a kind museum in Ukraine, which contains a collection of various crosses. The museum exhibits many crosses, among which you can see both small pectoral crosses and large carved, metal and ceramic ones made from church utensils.
Ethnographic Museum is located in the Cossack farm and dedicated to the rural life of the region. The exhibits are collected on the territory of the Hrechane village, where the old winter farm Halushkivka was located. The main part of the exposition are the ancient household items of the villagers. Thus, the collection contains two wedding towels over 100 years old that belonged to a resident of the village.
Cossack farm “Halushkivka” is an ethno-complex where three rural estates of the 19th century are located. (Hrechane village, Petrykovka district). The first estate is an ethnographic museum with objects of rural life. The second one is a workshop where master classes on Petrykivskyi painting and pottery are held, while the third one is the artist’s estate. Excursions and Cossack entertainment are held on the territory. There is also a “shynok” (tavern), where you can taste the local cuisine.
The 120-meter fence is a record-breaking fence, with the Petrykivskyi painting flaunting along the entire length. It is located in the very center of the village. And if you drive past Petrykivka, you will surely stumble upon it, since it is located near the main highway.
Petrykivka’s “huts” (dwellings) are private estates, that constitute one of the sights of the village. It is here, reviving the traditions of their ancestors, that the houses of Petrykivka citizens are painted with bright patterns. The most notable buildings decorated with paintings are the administration, the bus station, and the kindergarten. But it is also worth noting some houses of the village. Thus, in the estate of Vasyl Sokolenko, a museum has been opened, where the works of the Sokolenko family and students are presented. While in the village of Mala Petrykivka (7 km from the village), the Dekas spouses live. They organized an ethno-style estate museum at their place, where you can not only learn how to paint Easter eggs, but also taste homemade traditional dishes and stay overnight.
A stud farm houses various thoroughbred breeding horses, which have become prize-winners in many competitions. A tour around the territory can be booked at the stud farm. Visitors will learn a lot of interesting about horse breeding and new breeds, get acquainted with the rules of horse riding and, of course, will be able to ride horses.
Petrykivka Museum of Ethnography, Life and Folk-Applied Art presents the history of the village of Petrykivka and the emergence of Petrykivskyi decorative painting. The exposition of the museum contains products and items of folk craft, as well as belongings of the former Druzhba factory. There is an exhibition hall with a peasant’s room, where exhibitions of local artists are constantly held. In addition, the museum hosts master classes on various folk craft techniques.
The Museum of Ukrainian Wedding is the only museum in Ukraine where, along with unique exhibits, a ritual action takes place. Here you will be transported back to the times of our great-grandmothers and see with your own eyes how weddings and preparations for them were previously held. The museum has recreated the atmosphere of the past centuries. A theatrical wedding performance is held on the territory. You can not only see the wedding according to the old rite, but also take part in the event, as well as attend a master class on making wedding amulets.
The Petrykivka Folk Art Center is the main center of Petrykivskyi painting, where you can get acquainted with the local art of painting. More than 20 craftsmen work here, with thematic excursions and master classes held. Petrykivskyi painting has been known since the 19th century and is included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In the center there is an exhibition hall, where works of masters are presented, as well as workshops where you can see how masterpieces are created, take a master class and buy painted souvenirs.
